Burial in Our Consecrated
Holy Grounds

We operate under the doctrine of the Catholic Church, and our cemeteries are sacred spaces for reflection and prayer. All services at Catholic Cemeteries Diocese of Trenton must align with Catholic traditions. At the time of burial, the Committal Rite, officiated by a confirmed Catholic cleric, must be included to honor the sanctity of the moment.

Beautification and Decoration Guidelines

Catholic cemeteries are places of sacred prayer, and we encourage families to express love and devotion through grave decorations. However, these decorations must not create safety hazards, impede proper maintenance, or infringe upon the cemetery's sacred character.

Beautification Items

Decorations must remain within 12 inches from the grave’s facade and must not exceed the length of the monument. We ask for your cooperation in adhering to the following guidelines for acceptable items:

  • One solar or battery-powered vigil light (without glass)
  • Fresh or silk flowers in a self-draining vase
  • Annual plantings within 12-inch-deep beds, no higher than 15”
  • One durable religious statue (no glass or porcelain)
  • American flags displayed from Memorial Day through Flag Day and on Veterans Day

Items Not Permitted for Decoration

To maintain safety and preserve the dignity of our sacred spaces, we prohibit certain items from being placed on graves. These include:

  • Border enclosures, fencing, decorative stones, or shells
  • Shrubbery, roses, and other large plants
  • Glass, glassware, and porcelain items
  • Wax candles, votive candles, and landscape lighting
  • Toys, balloons, and other novelty items
  • Items such as bric-a-brac, wind chimes, and shepherd’s hooks

Responsibility for Decorations and Property

Please be aware that the cemetery is not responsible for any decorations or property left at gravesites. Items that pose a safety risk to visitors or staff will be removed immediately, without prior notice. We encourage you to secure all personal items within the allowed boundaries to avoid potential loss or removal.
